Forts and Go Fish

hayden and luke are really into making forts right now
they'll make them anywhere and with just about anything
you can't tell from the picture
but they are also playing "go fish" while hiding in their forts
one game takes about an hour because they have to crawl out
every time they choose a card
too funny!

Hayden's Quilt Part 1

last year i went on a craft retreat with my sister
and decided to make hayden a crazy quilt
i don't know what i was thinking because
it was he hardest sewing project i have ever done
each square has 24 pieces!
the craft retreat is coming up again and i didn't
want to bring this thing with me
so with all this rain we have been getting
i decided it was time to buckle down and finish it
those are the completed squares( thanks mel for helping)
the picture isn't great because the fabric is a lot brighter.
more posts to come!

It's Raining, It's Pouring...

.....and we are inside playing and sewing.
i am loving the weather
as much as i consider myself an outdoor gal
i love it when i am forced to be inside and get caught up on my sewing
the kids are creating things with Perler Beads
and listening to Adventures in Odyssey

as much as i miss them as babies
it is pretty fun watching them play
and create together

City to Sea 09

I'm digging up some past memories from 2009. My friend, Shelby(she is in the pink hat behind me) and I ran City to Sea this past October. She was a great encouragement to me and actually ran the last mile with after have already crossed the finish line before me! It was a great feeling. Scott made it with the kids to watch and I love that they got to see me finish. I can't beleive I was smiling because I was dying!!!

Beaters and Bowl

My mom was a HUGE fan of licking the bowl and beaters especially if chocolate was involved. The kids and I (well mostly me) made Chocolate Mousse for dessert. Julia Child's recipe of course. Do you think they liked it?

Julie and Julia

I just finished watching the movie, Julie and Julia. I read both Julia Child's autobiography and Julie Powell's book. My dad gave me Julia Child's cookbook, The Way to Cook. You can say that I am more than a little obsessed. So far, it's a good thing.
I love that we are never too old to learn something new and find hidden passions in our lives. Life is an adventure! More thoughts to come.

Hmmm...It's Too Quiet

I was upstairs fixing dinner when I realized that it was too quiet. No talking, laughing or yelling. I prepared myself for anything as I walked down the stairs. I found them sitting on their beds listening to Adventures in Odyssey. Too cute.
They are listening to it this morning so I'm going to try and get some sewing done. I'm making Hayden a comforter cover and quilt.
